Binaural Beat Listening Guide
Binaural-Beat Frequencies 101, we established that you can program your mind using audio that combines designer music and binaural-beat technology. I love this method: it is as easy as putting on headphones.
Depending on the material that you are listening to, you can improve your concentration, super-charge your meditations, or get a better night’s worth of restorative sleep. While the process is as simple as putting on headphones, it is not “automagical”: your participation is critical to your success!
So, what can you do to get the most from binaural-beat frequencies? Quite a lot, actually…
Binaural Beat Listening Guide
Set your purpose
Listening to binaural-beats is an active process and you must be purposefully engaged. Pick music imbued with tones that match your goals: if you want to improve your meditation, it makes sense to avoid something meant to enhance a high-speed exercise regimen.
Location, Location, Location!
Choose a location best suited to your desired tasks. A brightly lit office where you often perform your work is a great environment for honing your focus and developing your concentration, but it may not be the best place for a quiet meditation.
Remove Disturbances
Claim your space and clear it! Turn off the phone, disable your computer’s email alerts, shut off that coffee pot that might beep when it shuts off… whatever your disturbances may be, try to mitigate them before they have a chance to interrupt you.
Use Headphones
While well placed speakers can work effectively with binaural-beats, the sure fire listening method involves headphones. Headphones ensure that your brain is getting the optimal stimulation from the music and binaural-beat frequencies.
Keep Quiet
Set the volume below your normal listening levels so that you are not focusing on the music. The rhythms, musical nuances and binaural-beat tones should never be so loud that they become distracting or annoying.
Breathe
Breathing deeply slows the heart rate, relaxes the muscles, focuses the mind and is an ideal way to begin anything. This is as important for focus and concentration as it is for sleep and meditation.
